# Tomato > A functional 32-bit computer built from scratch in a dorm by Tyrone Marhguy, a Ghanaian computer engineering student at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn / UPenn), Penn Engineering Class of 2028. Tomato is an independent 32-bit architecture: Dual-LUT ALU, Tomato OS on FPGA, a browser emulator (Virtual Tomato), and Envelop to text the physical machine. The complete computer runs on FPGA. The discrete build currently proves an 8-bit ALU slice. There is no public JSON compute API. Hardware jobs require an Envelop lease. Today the machine is FPGA RTL plus discrete 74xx copper. A long-term goal is an ASIC implementation of Tomato — not a tapeout yet. Tomato is built for chip designers, RTL and verification engineers, University of Pennsylvania students, and students in Ghana who want a complete, inspectable computer they can run. ## Use it - [Play Tomato OS](https://tomato.tmarhguy.com/virtual.html): run the shipped OS in the browser - [Message Tomato](https://tomato.tmarhguy.com/envelop.html): Envelop, when a verified bridge holds a lease - [Envelop chat](https://tmarhguy.github.io/envelop/chat/): web chat client - [Contact](https://tomato.tmarhguy.com/contact.html): email and elsewhere ## Engineering - [Architecture](https://tomato.tmarhguy.com/architecture.html): Dual-LUT datapath - [ISA](https://tomato.tmarhguy.com/isa.html): 91 instructions plus NOP (92 burned rows) - [Tomato OS](https://tomato.tmarhguy.com/os.html): assembly OS - [Verification](https://tomato.tmarhguy.com/verification.html): Verilator + formal - [Status](https://tomato.tmarhguy.com/status.html): what exists today - [FPGA register file](https://tomato.tmarhguy.com/architecture.html): 256 × 32-bit on FPGA (no space for more); 32,768 is the discrete-faithful count - [Source](https://github.com/tmarhguy/tomato): RTL, assembler, OS, KiCad ## About - [About Tyrone Marhguy](https://tomato.tmarhguy.com/about.html): Ghana → Philadelphia; Achimota School; University of Pennsylvania, Penn Engineering, Class of 2028 - [FAQ](https://tomato.tmarhguy.com/faq.html) - [Build journal](https://tomato.tmarhguy.com/journal.html) - [What agents can do](https://tomato.tmarhguy.com/skill.md) - [Longer digest](https://tomato.tmarhguy.com/llms-full.txt)
